Lake Superior Beach Vacation Rental

Hi! We’re Karen Twyman and Rick Boyd, the proud owners of Cedar Cottage.

In the summer of 2011, we were planning a two-month sabbatical near Marquette—Rick to write his doctoral thesis, and Karen to relax and reconnect with friends—when a search for a dog-friendly rental led us to an unfinished cottage on Lake Superior. From the moment we stepped inside, we saw the potential to create something truly special. We spent months thoughtfully renovating and designing the space to be warm, welcoming, and in harmony with its natural surroundings.

Today, Cedar Cottage is a peaceful retreat where guests can take in the ever-changing views of the lake, watch the Northern Lights from the deck, and explore all that the Marquette area has to offer. It’s a place to unwind, reconnect, and experience the quiet magic of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
